Monitoring of Deportations

Since May of 2006 two associates work with us as deportation-observers at the Frankfurt Airport. They attend deportations and assume the function of mediators at all deportation proceedings for all involved parties (the country concerned, refugee supports groups, Federal Police, Medical Airline personnel, lawyers etc). When difficulties arrise they are taken up by a forum, that is made up of representatives from the Federal Police as well as churches and NGOs.

It is the business of the “Monitoring of Deportations” to report offences against the proportionality of used resources and human requirements to the ”Forum Abschiebungsbeobachtung of the Airport Frankfurt”.

In this panel the members, ambassadors of the churches and of the federal police try to improve the situation.

The “Monitoring of Deportations” has free entrance due to an agreement with the federal police to the premises of the deportees. They don’t have the right to actively stop the deportation, however they are allowed to intervene the inspection over the administration.
